You probably take out your mop and clean your hard floors on a regular basis. How often you clean really depends on the traffic you have in the house. If you live alone you may wait a week but if you have toddlers you may need to clean them every other day. There are two main types of hard floors that people have in their homes, one being hardwood and the other is tile. The tile might be natural stone all the way to porcelain. No matter what type of tile you have in your house you also have grout. When you mop the floors you are pushing around he dirt, debris and cleaning solution around and hopefully picking it up on the mop. The great thing is that is works well for your tile but not so much for the grout. The grout acts like a valley and is lower than the tile. This means that all the debris that you are pushing around is landing in the grout and staying there. That is why you need to have a method of cleaning the grout that works for you. There are several options that you can choose from.
DM Carpet Cleaning Has Three Methods To Try When Cleaning You Grout.
Scrubbing Grout with Hot Water & Toothbrush: The first method that you can try is the most simple and does not take much. This will often work if you are only worried about the top layer of dirt that may be building up. If you have staining that is deeper in the grout you want to use a different method. This method is very simple because all you need is to fill a spray bottle with hot water and spritz the area you want to clean. Then use a toothbrush to work on the grout. You can scrub the space and then follow up with a dry rag to remove the excess water. This is a great option to start with and will avoid any harsh chemicals that may end up causing damage to the grout or tile.
Clean Grout with Hot Water & Baking Soda: The next is still a good option but will offer a little more in the way of stain removal. The best way to use this method is to fill the water bottle with hot water and spritz the area that you want to work on. Then you can put some baking soda on the water and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. Then you use the toothbrush to scrub away the stains and dirt. Follow up with the same clean cloth to remove excess water and baking soda.
Hot Water, Baking Soda, Vinegar & Lemon Juice Solution to Clean Grout: This is the next level of cleaning and has the most to ensure that any stains are treated. It is also the one that may cause some damage so be sure that you use care when using this method. Mix hot water, baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice in a spray bottle. Spray a small area and work it with a toothbrush and wipe away all excess. This should only be used on small areas at a time so that the cleaner does not cause damage to the grout or the tile.
