Types of Carpet Repair in Roswell, GA; Stretching, Patching, Loop Replacement & More

The constant use of your carpet makes it highly susceptible to damage. Even those that are most careful will find times that their carpet will need some sort of repair. Because of the various ways that carpet is walked and run on, slid on and more, there are many different types of repair that need to take place. DM Carpet Cleaning is here to talk about some of the most common forms of carpet repair we see.

Carpet Stretching

Sometimes, when carpet isn’t installed as it should be, you will notice that over time there are ripples and waves in your carpet where it should be pulled tight across the floor. Don’t worry about replacing the carpet, it can be simply stretched to get rid of the ripples. To help avoid this problem, avoid dragging heavy furniture across the top of your carpet. This will cause rippling prematurely and damage your carpet.

Carpet Patching

If you have pets or kids, you may have areas of your carpet where there are holes or bald spots. These spots are always best replaced by cutting out a section of the carpet that is damaged and replaced by new carpet. It is ideal when the replacement can be some of the same carpet left over from the original installation so don’t forget to keep any of the scraps when you have new carpet installed in your home. During the process of carpet patching, the replacement patch needs to be exactly the same size as the hole or the repair will be obvious.

Loop Replacement

Loop-pile carpets are some of the most durable carpets available. However, there are some instances where the loops are pulled and snags start to form. Sometimes it is possible to replace the area with carpet patching, but you may consider having the carpet glued to get rid of the blemish.

Stair Carpet Replacement

When it comes to your stairs, the top stair always wears a little faster than the others do. The reason this happens is because your first step gets the brunt end of the dirt and debris that are on the bottom of your feet. By the time you reach the bottom stair, the dirt and debris is practically gone. As carpet is laid on your stairs, the technician will fit the carpet perfectly to every stair. When your carpet is installed, you should have them fit some of the off cuts to your stairs in the case that you need to have them repaired down the road.
