That is why there was a burst in people getting new pets including new puppies to rescuing a dog or a cat. The time that is spent at home was perfect to start training a new pet and getting them to know the family. The transition to a new house for a rescue can be stressful and the more support that they have the better. Now that you have a new pet you want to make sure you are ready to clean up after them. Even with you being home all day with your new pet they will still have accidents. These accidents are something you might have to break them of but in the mean time you have to have a way to keep your floors clean. DM Carpet Cleaning outlines what you can do to treat pet stains and odors on your carpet.

Carpet Spot Cleaner Kit

One of the things you want to do is be ready to work if your pet has an accident. The problem can be that your pet has an accident and you are stuck going around the house to find the things you need to clean the mess up. If you have a new pet you want to create a kit that you can grab quickly to clean the mess up. The kit can and should include a few clean cloths, cleaning solution and something you can do to clean the odor as well. Once the kit is put together you can grab it from a central room to start cleaning the mess up as soon as it appears.

Remove Excess Moisture from Carpet

The first step you want to take to clean up after your pet has had an accident is to remove as much of the excess as possible. The moisture will continue to soak into the padding and the backing of the carpet. This will lead to odor that can be harder to deal with at a later date. You can take care of the excess moisture by taking one of your clean cloths and pressing it into the area. Remove the cloth and repeat with a dry portion. This should soak the moisture from the carpet into cloth so that you can send it through the wash.

Clean Dog or Cat Urine Stain from Carpet

You want to make sure that the discoloration of the stain has been treated next. The best thing you can do is to use water mixed with dish soap. You can add a tablespoon of vinegar as well to help treat the stain. The color can be removed by dabbing at the area after you apply the cleaning solution.

Neutralize Odors in Carpet

Lastly you want to make sure that you treat the odor that is usually always left behind when your pet has an accident. The odor needs to be neutralized with baking soda that you will layer over the area and allow to sit for up to 24 hours. Then you can pick up the hard clumps and vacuum the rest of the mess. This will treat the odor and leave your house smelling fresh even with a new pet.
