When our dogs and cats pee inside the home it can leave behind a nasty odor and stain your carpets permanently if not properly cleaned. It is important to quickly tend to the accidents as they occur to prevent odors and stains inside the home. For those who have pets it is important to know how to properly clean up after their accidents. DM Carpet Cleaning will share how to remove pet urine and odors from out of your carpets.
You Do You Get Pet Accidents Out of Carpet?
When you have pets that have accidents inside the home it is important to clean up the mess as soon as possible. When they pee you will want to absorb as much of the moisture as possible. You can do this by using paper towels or a dry cloth and press down gently on the urine. The dry paper towel or cloth should absorb much of the moisture. Next you will want to use a diluted mixture of vinegar and water in a spray bottle and mist over the urine spot. The vinegar will help to kill the bacteria on the urine. Allow the vinegar to soak over the urine spot. While you wait, mix together hydrogen peroxide and dish soap in a cup or bowl. Sprinkle some baking soda over the urine and leave it for 30 minutes to an hour to help remove the odor. Afterward pour the hydrogen peroxide and soap over the baking soda and gently scrub over the site. After scrubbing the site, mask the pasty baking soda over the urine spot and let it dry overnight. The next day break up the hard baking soda and vacuum it up. Make sure to suck up all of the baking soda chunks. The vacuum will also help to restore the carpet fluff.
Pretreat Carpet Stains Before Steam Cleaning
It is always best to tend to pet accidents when they first occur. You will have better success preventing stains and odors. However, sometimes your pet will go inside the home and you may not notice it until it is too late. When this happens, it can be much hard to locate the site and to properly clean and remove the odor. Most people will clean the entire carpet in hopes they will find the right spot. This could make the problem worse if the carpet isn’t properly cleaned. In most cases it is best to pretreat the urine spot before cleaning the entire carpet. Professionals will use a black light to help them locate the site of the pet’s accidents as some urine stains may not appear. Using a black light helps to locate and pretreat the area of carpet that your pets’ may have mistaken for the bathroom. For older urine stains and odor, it is highly recommended to seek a professional carpet cleaning service. They have powerful carpet cleaning and extraction machines which remove the urine and kill the bacteria deep in the carpet. They are also trained on how to properly clean urine stains and remove the odors.
